Dear Mad'm Day
Dear Mad’m - a book about a woman who decided on her 80th birthday to go live on a remote mining claim in a cabin alone with her dog. By Stella Walthall Patterson. That was written back in the 1940s and the book was published in 1956. It became a popular book club selection and was loved by many readers across the USA.
Dear Mad’m (Stella) lived only 8 miles from Happy Camp, California, in the Klamath River Valley. On August 13, 2011 there will be a picnic in Happy Camp to honor her. Afterwards everyone will drive downriver to explore her homesite. (The cabin she lived in is no longer there.)
