For Twitter...

I like the Social Oomph site (formerly Tweet Later) and have posted to all my Twitter accounts from that app. It does several awesome things. First, you can pre-schedule Twitter postings. I ran a series on one of my accounts to promote one of my blogs by promoting other people’s blogs and sites (on that topic) as “site of the day”. I was able to schedule two months worth of daily “site of the day” postings, then walk away and not think about the project. Social Oomph took care of doing all the postings.

Say you have a brainstorm at 2 am but you know that most of the Twitter users you’d like to share with are going to be online at 10 am… you can place your tweet in the Social Oomph site and it will be posted when you want it to be, rather than immediately.

The site also allows you to vet all new followers - a truly convenient feature, and it will send you an email whenever someone tweets about a keyword you need to know about… your name, for example.

Well, here’s where I got in trouble. I set the vetting section to not automatically follow all people who wanted to connect with me, but then the site changed hands, and names, and apparently my setting got reset along the line. I ended up getting a lot of undesirable people connecting to my Twitter accounts, and I kept finding them cluttering my home page, and deleting and blocking them, wondering how they ever got followed because I’d never heard of them before!

I’m just saying… Social Oomph is a great service, but beware! If you want to use Twitter as a social networking site to contact your dearly loved friends, you’re going to want to tell Social Oomph that you do NOT want every new follower to be automatically followed back.

Top Ten Photo-Sharing Sites for Twitter Users

Top Ten Photo-Sharing Sites for Twitter Users:
TwitPic was the top choice, so I had to try it out.

On top of Mt. It is exactly what I needed to manage the six Twitter accounts I have.

My interests are so varied, I decided to divide them up. My main Twitter account is Linda Jo Martin, which I reserve for tweeting about writing and my content writing, which I mainly do at Squidoo.Com. My other sites are niches… nothing commercial and no spam… but niches just the same. For example on my Linda’s Herbal Twitter account I connect with other people who are into herbs and natural healing. On my Bigfoot Sightings account I network with other Bigfoot researchers. Get the picture?

My other Twitter accounts are FightCPS (family rights), Geniyyah (energy healing), and Independent Homeschooling.

With all these Twitter accounts to manage, I’ve found two applications that are very, very helpful. The first is Twhirl… which you are probably already familiar with … and the other is Tweet Later. With Tweet Later I can set up tweets early in the day and have them automatically posted all day long. Also I can vet my new followers there for all accounts… a very handy tool.

One more thing … Tweet Later will email out keyword alert notices. Just set up your keywords and then, should someone mention something I want to be aware of such as “Bigfoot sighting”… I’m emailed with the information once daily. I like that!

Freelancing with WordPress: Using WordPress as a Project Management App

Freelancing with WordPress: Using WordPress as a Project Management App:
The search for a plugin that will transform WordPress into a project management system that’s better than BaseCamp. I’m so glad all these flutterbys are having a good time in my garden!

Today I’ve been thinking about refining the focus of this blog to make it more useful to me. I’m going to start my own flutterbys… stopping by this blog to record social media information for my own edification. Instead of trying to impress anyone else, I want to use this space for keeping notes to self…

So there it is. A refined focus and a new start.

"Your desire is your prayer. If so, you can follow me. Twitter is a great place for social networking, and since posts are limited to 140 characters (or spaces) it isn’t writing intensive. Of course Twitter is only one of many micro-blogging sites. I’ll write more about others later.

Today I want to mention Twttrlists… which are hosted on Squidoo.Com, one of my favorite sites especially now that I earn over $100 dollars there every month… and have lots of friends there. If you would like to find out what all the fun is about, feel free to join by creating your first Squidoo lens on any topic that pleases you.

Twttrlists are easy to make, and fun. They let you find tweets on any topic and add them to your lens. (Lens is what Squidoo calls a web page.) After you join, come back here and use this link to make your first Twttrlist.

Here are a few I’ve made:

Great Writing Resources, Tips, Twitters, & Inspirations

I’ve got a collection of blogs… not just this one. However this is the only one whereon I focus on social media.

A week or two ago I went to JournalSpace to add to my Mountain Dweller blog - which I’ve used sporadically for over five years to record observations about living the life of a mountain dweller. I live in the Siskiyou range in Northern California. Well, imagine my surprise (and sadness) when I saw that JournalSpace was down and the owner had decided not to revive it!

Flash forward about a week… to this morning. I went to JournalSpace again to see if I could find the links to those FaceBook groups where people are comiserating about the demise of their blogging site - and I discovered someone else took over the site and JournalSpace is back up! I was thrilled, and re-established my MountainDweller blog - this time on a WordPress multi-blogging platform.

JournalSpace, like Tumblr, is a community blogging network. I don’t know about others here but I like to have lots of blogs, spaced out on many different sites. Usually each blog focuses on a specific topic just like this one is mainly about social media opportunities.

Ping.fm

Ping.fm:
I love this new update service! There are MANY micro blogging platforms these days - plus MySpace, FaceBook, and many other social media services. What if you could update them all at one time by writing your message only once?

That’s what Ping.fm can do for you. Follow the link above to get the skinny on how to use this great new service!

Stumpedia

Stumpedia:
This is a search engine powered by people like you. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Nonetheless I groggily sit up and look around. I see before me a screen with a place to post something. Title, post… couldn’t be all that hard. I know a bit about blogging but every blogging site is different. I will adjust.

At least I remember my name… no amnesia here.

I’m Linda, a blogger and content writing web worker living in Northern California. I enjoy exploring social media and blogging sites. I’m also a consultant to writers who need websites and recently started a message board where I can answer questions for them: Write Web Now.

I live in the boonies in the middle of the Siskiyou Mountains about twenty miles south of the Oregon border. I sure like it here. It takes a hermit spirit to really appreciate living in the middle of the forest about forty miles from the nearest fast food restaurant.
